This course is for beginning users of the Office Suite.
The course consists of:
Identify the Excel icon and access the programme. Open an existing file either using the File:Open command or file list at the end of the File menu. Understand the difference between Save and Save As. Can save into a designated folder.
- Understand rows, columns, cell and range
- Understand the difference between labels, values and formulas
- Able to sum facility and understand its limitations
- e.g. row insertion, changing of specified area
- Perform the following operations: cut, copy and paste within and between spreadsheets.
- Able to format numbers, using both the toolbar and the menu
- Bold, underline and italicise text. Be aware of the options on the Format: Cells menu
- Know how to use copy right and copy down.
- Know how to check the spelling of the file.
- Able to tell Excel how to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
- Know how to insert rows and columns.
- Left align, right align, centre and justify text.
- Know how to set up and format percentage
- Able to preview the document, set to fit to one page and print one copy. Create headers and footers
Calculations
- Have an introduction to some simple functions: max, min, avg, count
- Create simple formulas
- Absolute and relative formulas
- Simple If statements
- Use Find and Replace
